MLB Roundup Feb. 26-27

It's been a little bit since we last posted so there a few more things to mention than usual today.

Manny Ramirez is just being Manny man. Or something like that. It was announced earlier this morning that Manny had rejected the Dodgers offer of $45 million for two years. How much is going to be enough for him? If you are a Dodgers fan, or really whoever signs him, do you feel like he is being greedy and does that make you dislike him? I'm not sure when he will sign but it will be for a crazy amount of money.

Barry Bonds former trainer Greg Anderson is still refusing to testify against Bonds in court. Anyone else see this coming? Anderson has already spent time in prison for refusing to testify and could be making another trip to the slammer for the same thing.

Giants ace and NL Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum has agreed to a one-year $650,000 contract. Lincecum had a breakout year last year going 18-5 with a 2.62 ERA and led the majors with 265 K's in 227 innings. The Giants website says this is likely the last time they will be able to contain his salary as it is likely he will be eligible for arbitration after this season. As long as he continues to put up solid numbers, he will have a big payday very soon.

Mets pitcher Johan Santana was scratched from a Friday start against Italy due to tenderness in his pitching elbow. He should make his exhibition season debut on Tuesday.

Another player is out of the WBC. Grady Sizemore because of a sore left groin. Sizemore doesn't sit out much so he was quoted saying "This was something I was looking forward to, I was excited to get a chance to play for my country." Just want to add that he was on my fantasy team that won the league by 40.5 games, but that is really unimportant right now. Coming to the WBC now however will be Miguel Tejada who will play for the Dominican Republic. He initially declined an offer to play in the WBC because the team wanted to use him at first base. It seems all worked out now and Tejada seems happier.

For the record, at the time this is being written there is just over 37 days til Opening Night.
