Cardinals/Reds Preview

The St. Louis Cardinals open an 8 game home stand tonight at Busch Stadium - the Cardinals will play the Cincinnati Reds in the 1st 4 game series and then wrap up the home stand with a 4 game series against the Colorado Rockies. The Reds come in with a 26-23 record, but they have lost 12 of their last 14 played at Busch Stadium. The Reds were swept in Milwaukee over the weekend, plus future star 1B Joey Votto went on the 15 day DL...lots of negatives going on in that clubhouse right now. The Cardinals come home after losing 2 out of 3 in San Francisco to the Giants, but they have been a different team since Chris Carpenter has come back off the DL. Ryan Ludwick and Rick Ankiel have both returned to the lineup from the DL as well and since that happened - Albert Pujols has started to break out of his slump. With Votto out, as well as Edwin Encarnacion, look for the Cardinals to continue to add to the Reds slump at Busch Stadium.
