Kansas City Royals Preview

I know you were all waiting, so sorry for the short break. And I don't know if you can count this as a preview since one game has gone though, but I'll go ahead and preview the next 2 games. The Royals took 2 of 3 from Texas the series before, and are/were looking to win the series again against the Tribe. Pitching has been pretty good from the top 3, but once Ponson got down last night, he could not get out of it. Our offense almost brought us back, and we got to see Tejada, Ramirez, Farnsworth and Cruz all pitch to help get us out, but we just couldn't pull this one out. When the other team turns 6 double-plays in as many consecutive innings, you are probably not feeling very confident either. There seems to be more positive news for the boys in blue though, with Brian Bannister coming back from AAA to pitch tonight, and Doug Waechter being put on the 15-day DL. With Banny back and hopefully some shuffling in the bull pen, things should look better these next games. Who can forget to mention Zack Greinke's great pitching against Texas, who was tied for AL player of the week last week. He has pitched 20 scoreless innings so far.

Game 2
Wednesday April 22, 2009 at 6:05pm CT vs. Cleveland Indians
KC Brian Bannister (0-0), vs. CLE Cliff Lee (1-2)

Game 3
Thursday April 23, 2009 at 11:05am CT vs. Cleveland Indians
KC Gil Meche (1-0), vs. CLE Anthony Reyes (0-0)

After losing 7 to 8 in yesterday's game, and losing the last game of the series against Texas, the Royals are looking for a win. Expect large bats, and great pitching, it seems we finally are hitting, with guys like Jacobs hitting when we really need it. Some not so good news is that Alex Gordon, Jose Guillen, and Doug Waechter are all on the DL.
